SUMMARY:Glen Mar 5k
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 30\, 2017\, (start time is 9:00 a.m.) Glen Mar will be hosting its annual 5K\, benefitting the Howard County Food Bank (Rain or Shine). On the 5K and 1-Mile Walk\, there will be opportunities for runners and walkers to navigate some of the best hills in Howard County on this course that covers the streets surrounding the church. Following the 5K and 1-Mile Walk\, everyone will be welcome to enjoy refreshments. \n  \nThe Glen Mar Family 5K and 1-Mile Walk will be a great motivation for those of you looking to get in shape\, for families looking for a fun activity to do together\, or for runners looking to compete in a fun\, friendly atmosphere\, all for a good cause. Spread the word to your family\, neighbors\, friends and co-workers about this Fall’s Glen Mar Family 5K and 1-Mile Walk. \n  \nParticipants in the 5K may create or join a team. Teams must consist of at least 3 participants. The times of the top 3 participants for each team member will count toward the team’s total time. All participants will have their run/walk times on the 5K course individually recorded; however\, times for 1-Mile Walk will not be recorded. \n  \nThose who register on or before September 25 will be guaranteed event t-shirts and will save $5 per person.  Registration will be limited to the first 350 participants. \n  \nParticipants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Howard County Food Bank. \nAny individual or business interested in sponsoring the event should contact Connie Ballenger at 410-796-0290. To guarantee all sponsorship benefits we must have your sponsorship commitment and (if applicable) have your logo by August 31. \nEvent details and schedule\nThe 5K and 1-Mile Walk will start at 9:00 a.m. and will cover the hilly streets and neighborhoods that surround Glen Mar United Methodist Church. Parking will be at Glen Mar UMC. Packet pickup will be on Thursday\, September 28\, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Road Runner Sports – 6630 Marie Curie Dr. Elkridge\, MD 21075. Road Runner Sports will offer all event participants $10 off a minimum $30 purchase or 25% off everything for joining its VIP Family during this time. In the event you cannot make packet pick up\, you will be able to pick up your race packet between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at Glen Mar on the day of the event. \nOnline registration ends at 10:00 p.m.\, September 26. However\, registration will be available on September 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during packet pickup at Road Runner Sports\, 6630 Marie Curie Drive\, Elkridge. Registration will also be available on event day (September 30) at Glen Mar between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
